Tawjihi Equivalency
Students intending to attend a Jordanian university or gain certain professional licenses in Jordan can obtain a certificate of Tawjihi equivalency in lieu of taking the national Tawjihi examination. Some Arab countries also require Tawjihi Equivalency for acceptance.
American High School Diploma Equivalency
To obtain Tawjihi equivalency, students must complete one of the following examination options, in addition to the school’s requirements, by the time of their graduation. For more information, please check the Ministry of Education site.
Option 1
6 ACT Subject Tests
A combined total of six ACT subject tests. For the Tawjihi science stream in option 1, students must pass three science ACT subject tests including math.
Tawjihi equivalency average out of 100 will be calculated as follows:
25% of the numeric grades of the last three years of high school
75% out of the SAT subject exam scores
Option 2
4 ACT Subject Tests + 1 One Advanced Placement Exam OR 4 ACT Subject Tests + ACT General Exam
To obtain Tawjihi equivalency in the Tawjihi science stream for option 2, students must pass three science ACT subject exams including math
Tawjihi equivalency average out of 100 will be calculated as follows:
25% of the numeric grades of the last three years of high school
50% out of the ACT subject exam scores
25% out of the AP Exam OR ACT general exam
Option 3
Two ACT Subject Exams + Two Advanced Placement AP Exams
To obtain equivalency in the Tawjihi science stream for option 3, students must pass three science subject exams including math.
Tawjihi equivalency average out of 100 will be calculated as follows:
25% of the numeric grades of the last three years
25% out of the ACT subject exam scores
50% out of the two AP Exams
Option 4
Three Advanced Placement (AP) Exams
To obtain equivalency in the Tawjihi science stream for option 4, TWO of the AP exams must be science exams.
Tawjihi equivalency average out of 100 will be calculated as follows:
25% of the numeric grades of the last three years
75% out of the three AP Exams
Option 5
Two Advanced Placement (AP) Exams + ACT General Exam
To obtain equivalency in the Tawjihi science stream for option 5, two of the AP exams must be science exams. Al least one of the two AP Exams must be from the following list: AP Calculus, AP Physics, AP Biology, or AP Chemistry.
Tawjihi equivalency GPA out of 100 will be calculated as follows:
25% of the numeric grades of the last three years
25% out of the ACT exam
50% out of the two AP Exams
Option 6
Two ACT Subject Exams + One Advanced Placement (AP) Exams + ACT General Exam
To obtain equivalency in the Tawjihi science stream for option 6, the ACT subject exams and the AP exams must be science exams, including Math.
Tawjihi equivalency average out of 100 will be calculated as follows:
25% of the numeric grades of the last three years of high school.
25% out of the ACT general exam
25% out of the ACT subject exams
25% out of the AP exam
AP Capstone Diploma Equivalency
The Certificates Equivalency Committee of Jordan’s Ministry of Education has approved issuing an equivalency of AP Capstone Diploma to the Jordanian General Secondary School Certificate if students meet the following requirements:
Successful completion of American High School/12th grade
Successfully obtaining the AP Capstone Diploma
Minimum grade of 3
To obtain the equivalency for the Science stream, students must complete two scientific subjects.
The above will take effect as of the 2014/2015 academic year.
University Degree Equivalency
Students who graduate from ACS, can obtain the Tawjihi equivalency by submitting the American High School Diploma obtained from ACS along with the university BS/BA or Masters Degree from an accredited university approved by the Ministry of Education.

Important Information
AP Statistics and AP Computer Science will not be considered for the science stream equivalency unless accompanied by one of the following AP Exams: AP Calculus, AP Physics, AP Chemistry, or AP Biology
Arabic A-Level is counted as equivalent to one ACT subject exam NOT one AP
AP Studio Art is counted as equivalent to one ACT subject exam NOT one AP (excluding students who took the AP Studio Art Exam as juniors in May 2020)
Students can replace 25% of school numeric grades from the last three years of high school with one AP exam, one ACT exam, or two ACT subject exams.
A-Level Arabic is Equivalent to one SAT exam and NOT one AP Exam
AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, and AP Statistics are considered the SAME EXAM
ACT Math I, ACT Math II, AP Calculus, and AP Statistics are considered different exams.
ACT English I and ACT English II are considered TWO different exams.
The ACT General Test is considered a scientific exam.
An ACT subject test and SAT subject exam for the same course are NOT considered different exams but as the same exam.
An ACT subject test and AP exam for the same course are considered two separate exams.
